Deputy Marvin Scarlett was killed in an automobile accident on I-75 at approximately 5:00 am.
His patrol car collided with the back of a delivery truck that had stopped in the roadway due to another accident that had just occurred.

Deputy Scarlett had served with the Henry County Sheriff's Office for 5 years and had previously served with the Miami-Dade, Florida, Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He is survived by his wife and four children.
