Officer Ann O'Donnell was killed in an automobile accident while
responding to a reported kidnapping in progress on the streets of Houston at about 12:45 am on Christmas eve. Her patrol car left the roadway and struck a tree at the intersection of North MacGregor Way at Faculty Lane.

Officer O'Donnell received a call from her dispatcher that the kidnapper was escaping from the scene of the crime, driving on the wrong side of the street, and with the young female victim possibly in his vehicle. 

Officer O'Donnell knew the make and color of his car, and the direction of his travel. She chose a route that would allow her to intercept and stop him.

She succumbed to her injuries while being transported to a local hospital.

Officer O'Donnell had served with the University of Houston Police
Department for one year and one month.  She is survived by her parents and sister.
